Weld Wheels turns 50

It was almost 50 years ago that WELD Racing LLC had its humble beginnings in a small backyard in Kansas City. Greg Weld, company founder and visionary, made his first racing wheel. Weld, a successful Sprint Car racer with numerous wins and championships under his belt, set out to create a wheel that could withstand the rigors of top level sprint car racing.

WELD Racing was born from this simple desire to build a better product. For nearly a half century, WELD has earned its reputation as the preeminent American performance wheel company through more race wins than any other wheel brand: through uncompromising engineering, relentless quality, and a continual drive to produce better-performing products.

Today WELD is a global company serving the performance interests of automotive enthusiasts around the world. WELD is the choice of world champions and demanding enthusiasts across drag racing, sprint car racing, road racing, dirt late-models, ATVs, and UTVs. These championships are earned through WELD’s focus on quality, technology, and engineering.

In 2017, WELD Racing will celebrate our 50th anniversary by embracing our past, present, and future. WELD will unveil unique promotions at key events throughout the year including the 2017 Knoxville Nationals and the NHRA U.S. Nationals.

Starting in January 2017, WELD will also launch “50 Weeks of WELD” social media campaign highlighting racing milestones over the past 50 years achieved by drivers running on WELD wheels.

Also commemorating our milestone will be a limited run of gold 50th anniversary wheels for street and track. To bring even more awareness to the significance of this celebration, a complete line of WELD 50th anniversary apparel and collectables will be available starting in January of 2017.

Customers, racers, and fans can keep track of WELD’s 50th anniversary promotional opportunities and sale specials during 2017 by visiting our website plus social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
